Plaid is a Staple

As far as I’m concerned, plaid is a wardrobe staple. I know your typical list goes something like this: black blazer, skinny jeans, white tee, tan wrap coat, etc. While I agree with the general list of wardrobe staples, I think plaid is one of the things it often misses. I feel like the internet is flooded with style blogs that prescribe a list of wardrobe pieces that instantly elevate your look, and I’m continually surprised in some of the gaps. Then, when you do find a plaid item on said list, it’s just a button down. Ugh!

Here are my thoughts. Do you have a plaid coat? If you do, try putting it on over every outfit you wear for the next week. Just test this theory for me. And I’m not talking about a Carhartt. Carhartts don’t go with a whole lot. Lolz. I mean a pea coat or wrap or something. If you already have one, then you might already be clued in. If not, buy and return if you don’t like it. Anyway, apart from formal wear, I’ll bet whatever you pick is going to look pretty cool with a lot of outfits. I bet it looks great with jeans and a tee, overalls, your favorite sweater, a casual dress and you’ll even be surprised when it looks great with an onslaught of colors and patterns. Even a bright colored plaid like the red in my images. Be bold!

Guys, plaid is just dope and you can wear it with so many things. It’s the pattern staple. It’s the pattern that even goes with all the other pattersns! I love it so much that I continually make plaid wish lists for myself, which I’m sharing in this blog post. I’ve added some favorites that I’m currently spying, all of which are under $100. Tell me in the comments which pieces are your favorite and help me decide what to wear next! Also, please keep in mind that this particular blog post is my wish list and are not items I have personally purchased.
