    Valentine’s Day Gift Guide

It’s that time of the year again, which happens to be a big favorite for me because I just LOVE shopping for people. I’m one of those year-round gift planners. I keep a note with ideas for family and friends and generally buy gifts for people months and months before they need them. I actually now have a stock for my best friend and am slowly gifting her from this designated section of my closet. It’s out of control. So, I decided to share some of my favorite gift ideas with all of you, which has turned out to be quite soothing for me to do some imaginary shopping. It’s…

    Bemelmans

Bucket List Item #452 – have a drink at Bemelmans at the Carlyle New York, USA Did you know there’s a bar entirely dedicated to the art of Ludwig Bemelmans? Rewind, do you know who Ludwig Bemelmans is? I bet you do, even if you don’t realize it. Bemelmans was a writer and illustrator of children’s book, most notably Madeline. In an old house in Paris that was covered in vines, lived twelve little girls in two straight lines. If you’re female and you grew up in the 90s, then you definitely know what I’m talking about. Even if you didn’t, chances are you grew up with the Madeline books…

    Oak Alley

Bucket List Item #428 – Oak Alley Plantation Louisiana, USA Just off the west bank of the Mississippi river in St. James Parish lies Oak Alley Plantation. This was one of the first ever items I remember having written down on my bucket list. You see, I’m a huge fan of Interview with the Vampire, but I never realized that Louis’ home was a real place you could visit. I don’t remember where this useful tid bit of knowledge came from, but I knew I had to go. So, when we decided to do New Orleans for our anniversary it was the number one priority. Oak Alley is one of…

Hips & Curves: Three Bra Reviews

It’s no secret that every plus-size woman is forever on the hunt for the perfect bra. It’s no secret that every WOMAN is forever on the hunt for the perfect bra. The fact of the matter is that the answer to the age-old question is truly variable. All I can do is try my best to help the masses, and my contribution is testing some products for you and giving some very honest reviews. I’ve heard some amazing things about the bras at Hips & Curves, so I decided to pick three bras and give the site a test. I’m going to start from least favorite to favorite. Please know…

    Little Havana

Bucket List item #419 – Little Havana Florida, USA I still haven’t taken a proper trip to Florida. I keep popping up in Florida unintentionally. However, exciting it may be to get some unexpected time in a new place, I would still love to go back and give proper credit to the state because I know it has endless wonders. Some years ago, whilst Dave and I were heading home from Saint Thomas, we had an unintentional 24 hours in Miami. The airline we were flying from the Virgin Islands had some technical issues with their systems and flights were being held or cancelled across the globe. We had a…

Building an Outfit around a Scarf

I almost can’t believe that this entire outfit cost under $300. It amazes me when fast fashion brands so closely imitate designer apparel like this. Wowza! Anyway, I want to chat a little about my newest winter fashion trick, which is quite simple and I’m shocked I haven’t done it previously. It was a revelation that shouldn’t have been one. It should be common knowledge. My new trick: plan an outfit around a scarf. It’s almost embarrassing that this was a monumental discovery for me. SMH. Really, it’s quite brilliant when you want to look colorful, but not overdo the patterns. I found this amazing scarf at ASOS and just…

    Comedy Cellar

Bucket List item #359 – See a show @ Comedy Cellar New York, USA I’ve long fantasized about seeing a show at the Comedy Cellar. I’ve never been one to seriously follow comedians, but I love seeing them live. I’ve had this fantastical vision of a vibrant nightlife scene, teaming with energy, like you could feel the intensity just walking into the club. I used to fantasize about seeing a famous comedian there and after the show running into them at the Olive Tree Café. I’d magically be at the peak of my wit and regale them with hilarious stories and flirt and make this epic memory. Obviously, this little…

    Charlotte Amalie

Bucket List item #410 – Charlotte Amalie St Thomas, Virgin Islands, USA Some year ago, one of my best friends got married in Saint Thomas in the US Virgin Islands. At the time I was in my early stages of bucket listing. I hadn’t even organized enough to have all my things on a cohesive list. It was in Notes on my phone, post-its in my purse, and a document on my computer that I never seemed to save in the same place twice. Look, it wasn’t until recently that I became adult enough to really organize my life. I was a Neanderthal. The wedding took place at a resort,…

10 Beauty Products I’m Currently Obsessed With

Something changed in the last year of my life. There was a paradigm shift in my beauty routine. Maybe this is what growing up looks like or maybe my taste has changed, but I found myself seeking more and more beauty products. I’ve always loved doing my makeup, but I always stuck with drugstore brands because my middle name was broke ass bitch. Things aren’t so rough now though, and neither is my boudoir. The funny thing is that I always had this mindset about high end beauty products that they weren’t worth the month. And even if they were, I wouldn’t dream of spending $50 on a makeup palette…

Stop Comparing Yourself on Social Media

At the end of 2019, while procrastinating at filling out my BUJO, I decided to waste some time on ye old Instagram. As I tapped my way through a minimum of 50 slides per person and wondering how long it would take me to actually look at every person’s story without swiping left (a week, maybe?), I decided I wanted to do the annoying thing and make all of my friends view my century long story too! What I didn’t realize was how beneficial that process would be for me. You see, I end every year feeling like I didn’t accomplish much. I generally don’t do resolutions, but I have…
