It’s the most wonderful time of the year! (Who else can’t read that line without at least humming?)

Queue the angry fans for speaking about Christmas before Thanksgiving.

Christmas is coming whether you like it or not and I want you Denverites to be prepared. There are so many things to do in the city around the holiday season and after doing this once I will never go back. I can’t make it this year, but the following year I will be back with a vengeance.

I grew up in Colorado sort of knowing about the Brown Palace. It was a place my father photographed at various times when we were adventuring to the city. It was a place I ate at once in a restaurant that looked like a ship. I remembered it being fancy. The Brown Palace was that Denver landmark that was there as aspirations. It was a goal of mine to walk inside and enjoy it like an adult. Eat dinner there and have tea and maybe even stay the night, if I could afford it. It represented a lot for me from a young age: my marker for status and accomplishment. So, when I saw that you could have high tea at the Brown Palace I added it to my bucket list as a “someday” goal. When I went back for a visit last Thanksgiving, I figured I should revisit my Colorado bucket list. It’s a shock there are items in my hometown there STILL. Goes to show that sometimes we forget about all the great things in our own backyard. Tea was the only feasible bucket list check. But how could I afford it? News flash: it’s not that expensive! I realized I had spent my childhood building up to this for no reason. Am I the only one? Any other Denver locals who thought this their entire lives? Anyway, guys, it’s $40 a person. It’s well worth the price. You get a ton of goodies with it and everything is delicious. SAVE YOUR APPETITE BEFORE GOING. I mean, it’s proper fucking tea service and fancy as fuck for $40. That’s not bad at all! I mean, I won’t be going to tea every day, but I can afford to splurge with my gal pals and have some fancy tea in a beautifully decorated hotel for the holidays.

Also, I need you to listen to me here: pumpkin scones. THE BEST pumpkin scones. I dream about them. If I were a witch, I would sacrifice mortals to conjure one right now. I’m not sure if they have the bundles of pure joy through Christmas (I went closer to Thanksgiving), but if they do, you’re in for a real treat.

Pro tip: book way in advance. I mean, waaayyy in advance. Months. Actually, now that I’m typing this I realize I may not even be telling you in time for the holidays. Obviously word was already out that tea there is legit and relatively affordable. Best of luck, lovelies!
